Inside temp isn’t lowering to ‘set to’ temp

I'm house sitting for my parents (also they just had a ton of work done on the AC last week - Freon issue) and I felt like it was slightly warm so l checked and saw 77, I turned it down the ‘set to’ from 74 to 72 about an hour and a half ago, came back and now it's at 78.

I don't feel like l'm baking, so that 78 feels inaccurate, but not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

I've already spent a bit of time trying to search Google/ reddit and thought l'd found the answer a few times but obviously I didn't.

I'm here for two more days, help please, thanks!
